WHAT TO EXPECT

Modified’s advocacy services empower parents of children with special needs and adults with disabilities to navigate educational and workplace systems. We help parents secure the necessary support for their children in schools, while providing adults with tools to obtain workplace accommodations. Through personalized guidance, we ensure that individuals and families can confidently advocate for their rights and needs.

SUPPORTING YOUR NEEDS

Modified’s Adult Advocacy program supports individuals newly diagnosed with disabilities by helping them navigate workplace challenges and secure accommodations. We provide personalized guidance on understanding legal rights, effective communication with employers, and strategies for thriving in professional environments. Our goal is to empower adults with the tools they need to confidently advocate for themselves and achieve success in the workplace.

COLLABORATIVE VOICE

Parents of children with disabilities often face a complex and overwhelming journey when advocating for their child’s needs in the education system. To effectively support their children, parents require a range of tools and knowledge. Below are the key areas where Modified empowers parents:

  1. Understanding Legal Rights: Knowledge of laws such as IDEA, Section 504, and ADA to ensure their child’s educational rights are protected.
  2. Navigating the IEP/504 Process: Guidance on how to participate in and advocate during IEP and 504 meetings to secure appropriate services and accommodations.
  3. Effective Communication with Schools: Tools for building collaborative relationships with educators and administrators to support their child’s needs.
  4. Access to Resources and Services: Information on available resources, therapies, and programs both within and outside of the school system.
  5. Emotional and Mental Health Support: Emotional guidance and community connections to help manage the stress and challenges of advocating for their child’s needs.
