Where Do We Begin?

Gather all of this information:

Does Your Team Have Current Inclusive Education Practices and Goals?

Districts should have an overview of their existing inclusive education practices, including how they are addressing the needs of students with disabilities. It's helpful to identify specific areas where they want to improve, such as co-teaching models, differentiation strategies, or professional development needs.

Gather Data on Student Demographics and Outcomes

Having data on student populations, including the number of students with disabilities, IEPs, or 504 plans, as well as current academic outcomes, will provide insight into where support is most needed. This data helps Modified tailor services to meet the district’s unique challenges.

Review Your Staff Professional Development History

Districts should review any previous training provided on inclusive education or related topics. Understanding what teachers and administrators have already learned and implemented will help Modified build upon those foundations and introduce new strategies that complement existing efforts.

What is the Current Status of Your Parent and Community Involvement in Special Education

Districts should gather feedback or data on how well parents and community members are engaged in supporting students with disabilities. Are parents actively involved in IEP meetings? Is there a strong communication channel between schools and families? This information will help Modified provide targeted parent education and advocacy training.
